This semester I have explored the different places in Barcelona I have gone to eat, drink, of purchase food. Rather than post in the traditional blog format I have decided to create and experiential map of the locations at which I eat. I have set some rules in order to make the findings more coherent.

1. I will map the restaurants, cafes, etc. based on location in relation to my apartment and the architecture studio.

2. Show the amount of times or frequency at which I have gone to each location.

3. I will show the name of the location, and if necesary/applicable, a product i frequently oreder there.

4. I will limit the results to 10 locations representative of all places I have been to in Barcelona. This will make the results easier to read while still showing the diversity of locations I have visited.

This is an example of a map created by Gottfried Hensel in 1730. It is a map of Europe which shows the different regions by filling them with writing. The writing is in the language of the occupants of each region.

The experiential map i have created (previous post) shows some of the locations i have visited to satisfy my dietary needs. My apartment and studio are represented by the blue and turquois dots respectively. The number of times i have visited each place is shown by the green markers. I most frequently vist a select variety of locations around my apartment and studio. As a consequence most of the areas i vist are in a very close vicinity to one another. As you can see(below) the locations I have visited are in or close to the old city. This is most readily attributed to the proximity of the old city to my apartment and studio. Also, the fact that our first projects for class were focused on the old city may have helped me gain an early comfort level with the raval and the old city that i did not gain to the same degree with the eixample or other areas of Barcelona. Enjoy the map.
